My name is Michelle Welch-Rivera and I live in Nashville, Tennessee. I am half mexican, half swedish girl. I grew up in laid-back southern California. My father, is a medical device consultant. My mother is a crazy, mexican gypsy living off of the land. I lived there till last year when me & my family decided to move to Tennessee. I grew up hearing both English and Spanish and have been surrounded by the desert, catholic churches, dia de los muertos festivals, graves of my ancestors and more. My heart is truly made in the spanish desert of California.
I have always been a very creative person, favoring the arts and literature to maths and science. In school, I studied Studio Art, English, Philosophy, English Literature, Art History and Music at the School of Music. My interest in body-politics and holistic healing was a natural progression. After school, I was unsure about what I wanted to do, and after a year of studying Art History, I decided to change paths.
Having spent a summer interning at Benefit San Francisco, I made the decision to move back to southern california and pursue my dream of becoming a makeup artist. I realized that beneath the sparkle and glamour of the beauty industry, there is a standard set up for women (especially) to live up to a completely fabricated ideal. Fast forward to 6 years later.
I'm married to Jeremy Rivera, SEO guru and awesome robot and totally pregnant, relocating across the country. My whole life up until this point has been a blur of cities, people, cafe lattes, lip gloss, philosophical discussions about the price of eggs in china & now it was coming to a fork in the road. I was gonna be a mama! Boy was I lost! Noelle Snow Rivera (our daughter) came into the world via home, water birth on 1/5/2013! Since then I've been recovering, taking tons of pictures, having my gastric lap band removed, re-thinking my life and putting together this blog, Two Make One.

Two Make One is my personal blog. Here is where I'll archive pictures, ideas, thoughts, things I love, things I crave, things that are important to me and mostly, my personal journey. This blog is about natural parenting, re-claiming birth, loving yourself no matter what size you're at & whatever else pops into my head. I favor healthy food- I used to be vegan but have yet to piece together why that didn't work out for me. I favor fresh veggies, fruits, organic meats and pure, whole dairy products.
